As we partake in this jolly Christmas season, enjoying turkey dinners, christmas presents and candlelight services, let’s not forget your beloved pet dogs who had weathered this COVID19 pandemic with you. We will be sharing with you several cost effective and simple ways to pamper your dog during this festive season.

1. Reward them with decadent christmas treats so that they can fully immerse themselves in this festive season

Similar to how humans indulge in delicious christmas treats, our dogs deserve to indulge in this luxury as well.

However, some sources noted that although Christmas is a season for feasting, animal experts caution that special gifts for dogs should be avoided since some items can be fatal. Arsenic, mercury, chromium, and formaldehyde, according to the organization, are toxins in the items that enhance the danger of blockages and poisoning in dogs.

The Farmington Pet Adoption Center has issued a caution to dog owners not to purchase rawhide goods from China.

The skins are bathed in a poisonous sodium sulfide and rinsed in hydrogen peroxide, according to the adoption facility, which are all elements known for making dogs unwell.

Thus, we would recommend making homemade christmas treats or screening through the ingredients before buying any christmas dog treats. Alternatively, you can subscribe to Supawbox’s monthly subscription and gain access to high quality treats every time!

2.Bring them to exciting and novel places

In 3 ways to make your dog happy, we had mentioned the importance of bringing your dogs for walks. Walking your dog keeps his muscles and joints in good shape, and it’s also a great way to help him shed weight if he’s overweight. A daily walk also provides regular cardio, which may help your dog’s attitude and energy levels, ensuring that he is happy.   A regular routine may provide your dog structure and stability, and that level of predictability can help your dog gain confidence, especially if he is shy or fearful. One of the best ways to keep your dog happy and confident is to create a regular plan for him that includes enjoyable activities like a daily walk and interactive play.   While out walking, your dog will mostly definitely come across other dogs. This is a fantastic opportunity for your dog to practice acceptable social interactions with new animals. It will also assist your dog in gaining confidence in social situations, allowing him or her to be less fearful.   You can also spruce up your walking routine by exploring a different walking route and bringing your dogs to new places not endeavoured yet. For example, you can walk them along the streets of Orchard and look at beautiful Christmas lights! If you are feeling adventurous, a hike with your dog can be an item that you can tick off your bucket list this christmas!

3.Bring them for a dog grooming session

Similar to how humans get a hair makeover before the start of every year, give your dog that much needed trim. Matted or pelted coats are common especially in warm climates like Singapore. Mats may squeeze and pull the skin, making them uncomfortable and itchy. Just imagine having your hair roots squeezed and tugged all day. The mere thought of it made me shiver. Ears and nails of a pet are frequently disregarded, especially if they haven’t been maintained in three months or more. Because hair grows between the ears and between the toes, you may not detect the issue if it grows too long. Regular nail clipping is necessary since overgrown nails can make it difficult for your pet to move, much alone stand. If you’ve ever worn a pair of tightly knitted shoes that is at least a size smaller, you’ll know what I’m talking about. Thus, it is important to trim your dogs before the start of every new year.
